Hi, I’m Iffy, a licensed counsellor with my own practice, Mother Tree Counselling. I genuinely love what I do because I’m passionate about helping people become their best selves. My hope is to be able to support you on your journey too. My approach centres on empathy and understanding, creating a space where you can feel truly supported. My background in psychotherapy combines formal training with real-life experiences, helping me appreciate the power of caring therapy.
This work is deeply personal to me. I’ve faced my own struggles and sought therapy myself, which showed me just how transformative it can be. These experiences have strengthened my desire to help others find their path to self-discovery and growth. I believe everyone has the potential to discover their true self and lead a fulfilling life. As a compassionate counsellor, I offer a nurturing space where you can explore and embrace who you really are. Sometimes, all we need is someone to stand by us and help navigate the stormy waters of life. It’s not always easy to ask for help from those close to us—they may not know how to support us, even if they want to.
Seeking help takes great courage, and I understand that because I’ve been there myself. I remember my own first steps into therapy in my late twenties—how frightened and uncertain I felt. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I hope to provide you with the same kind of support and understanding that made such a difference in my own life.
My journey of self-discovery began with a surprising realisation: even with a good job, a loving family, friends, and relatively good health, I still found life incredibly challenging. I felt lost, overwhelmed, and far from content. This insight revealed that I needed to explore these feelings, igniting my inward journey!
As counsellors, we must do the work ourselves first, facing uncomfortable truths, confronting painful memories, unearthing buried thoughts and accepting realities which may be hard. This intense self-exploration has helped me gain a clearer understanding of who I am and why I am the way I am. It has allowed me to free myself of decades of conditioning, destructive patterns of behavior, unhelpful scripts and equip myself with tools to support my well-being. I am growing and evolving into the person I aspire to be (and this growth is ongoing 😊).
This journey of self-discovery and personal growth inspired me to help others start their own paths. By guiding individuals to connect with themselves, understand their experiences, identify their strengths and challenges, and embrace new perspectives, I find daily fulfilment and purpose. Seeing people grow, transform, and lead more fulfilling lives is deeply rewarding and reinforces my commitment to this work.

The story behind the name “Mother Tree” is inspired by the nurturing and supportive role my mum has played in my life, much like the mother trees in nature. Just as these trees communicate and share nutrients through a vast interconnected network, my mum has always been a source of wisdom, strength, and protection for those around her.
In the natural world, mother trees —play a vital role. They provide the most nutrients and offer protection to younger, smaller trees, shielding them from storms and disease. This philosophy lies at the heart of Mother Tree Counselling: rooted in compassion, growing together.
Just as mother trees nurture the forest, we aim to nurture and support our clients. By offering a safe and supportive environment, we help individuals grow and thrive, sharing wisdom and resources to foster resilience and well-being.
